The Apocalypse And Detox

I am writing this post from the sandy beach of Hawaii.  Okay, total fabrication, I am writing from my desk...in my house...dreaming of sandy beach.  If life were a little more Hawaii and a little less, oh, crazy, for all intents and purposes, everything would be just peachy.  Don't worry a state of the blog address is on the docket for later this week.

So because I like to torture myself and drag others along for the ride, I am in the process of doing a detoxifying cleanse with my bffs, Christina and Sue.  Without the coffee it's all a blur as to if they dragged me into this or I volunteered.  I'm weak, and I might actually cut someone for some carbs.

Detox Smoothie: cucumber, watermelon, spinach, grapes &kiwi. Yes quite good, but no Starbucks.

Not only am I detoxifying my body, but my life.  Oh yeah, baby, I even quit my job.  That was before the detox, so don't worry.  But it's good for us to step back, de-clutter and simplify.  Even when it comes to social media.  That's right, I said it, unplugging.  I do it.  Obviously I do it, I haven't blogged for weeks; however I did write a very entertaining article over at Parent Society, good ahead, I'll wait.

It might mention something about fried squirrel, my latest addiction and if there is any truth to the rumor that I live in a van down by the river.

See ya over there.

    1. Thanks, same to you. What? There is a detox that includes coffee, I must go search your Pins. Sue, www.suesnutritionbuzz.com, has an awesome detox plan too and she knows her stuff. If you ever want to join our detox club, you know where to find me. Sometimes easier to do it with a group to hold you back from the pizza.

    2. Yeah that's why I am not entirely sure if it is legit. But I hate to believe pinterest would betray me. Although, the plastic cups to prevent sparkler burns was a lie (the cup started on fire). Damn pinterest.

    4. If there is a wine detox, I will start immediately.

    5. I'm in on the wine detox! But you know that will inevitably lead to detox-detox:( Boo, why isn't life fair.

Sorry that I laughed at the sparkler incident, I'm going to have to see if you blogged about this. That is exactly why fireworks scare me. Hope nobody was hurt, but you got lots of pictures. I accidentally started a smackdown on Pinterest because I made fun of that Twilight vampire girl and all her fanatics jumped me. I'm staying clear for awhile.

  2. I'm trying to de-carb and failing miserably. I admire anyone who has a plan. Good luck w/ the green stuff. Great piece on Parent Society. You wrote what I think we all know...we're just so stuck. Everybody ELSE is hooked, so why not me? I'm actually tiring of facebook, and have vowed not to start twitter. I think blogging and Pinterest are enough self-absorbtion for me. I'm curious...are you looking for work, or do you have something in the works? You're a good mom. :-)

    1. Carbs are my nemesis too. If you can make it about 3 days without, and get all the sugars out of your system, you don't crave it anymore. Naturally I can't walk past a Cinnabon or I will cave. I'm not on facebook much, it's too dramatic for me, but I love me some twitter;) Yes, job(s) lined up. Mama has to pay the bills! I just went a new direction.

  3. I eat tons of green stuff, but there is no way I can do a detox unless my family is safely out of state. I get stabby without carbs. Very stabby. Chocolate has saved the lives of many of my family members multiple times.

  5. I tried to leave a comment on your article on the other site but it didn't work out.
    So I'll leave it here.
Great article. Well put. It's so important to be able to draw the line at what has to be done. Too easy to stay on forever doing what could be done.

    1. I'm not sure what they've got going on over there, but I did go in and had to manually approve some. That being said, I just perused my SPAM comment folder and found several comments from you that weren't published. What?! I will have to file a complaint to Blogger about this. Better yet, I should finally just leave Blogger once and for all. Thanks for reading and commenting, Gina! And yes, I could spend hours on Pinterest, it's like a time warp.

    1. Haha, I agree, chocolate is like some sort of miracle food, like wine. It just makes everything okay. Dark chocolate is really good for you, I, however do not discriminate and enjoy all types of chocolate.

  7. Well I am jealous of the detoxification of the J.O.B. I will take the leap one day. That smoothie looks beauteous. I am going to make that one as well as the apple water. Great piece at PS. And yeah Blogger...meh.

    1. Boooo Blogger. But I only have myself to blame, how long have I been threatening to switch? Sweet, sweet procrastination. You should take the leap, if you fail miserably you and the kid can live with me;) But you wouldn't, you'd be great! I can neither confirm or deny that I had coffee today.

  8. I think the smoothie sounds a lot better than it looks. Love to know how the detox works for you - the life and the food versions.

Loved the piece on unplugging. I knew you were a man ;)

I am a social media dummy. I reading blogs - but Facebook and Twitter... I just can't get into them. If my mom's/bible study didn't post all the info for reading and meetings on Facebook, I would delete it. And there is my Aunt - she calls me and asks me to put a new photo up about once every 3 months.

    1. Nobody believes me when I tell them I'm a dude. The smoothie tastes better than it looks! But all those things separately taste great as is.

I'm not much for facebook, I check every day, but don't post much. Twitter is instant gratification, but Instagram is my new addiction, love that!

  9. OMG...I'm shocked over your job. That takes more guts/craziness than I think I have in me. Yet, it is the ultimate life changer. So proud of you! BTW, I'm a vegan and after years of modifying my diet fell into no carbs or sugar (unless it is wine..lol!) In my food. I promise that if you adopt a lifestyle, not o nly will you not want it, it wonKt even appeal to you. This is coming from a person who could have eaten mocha lava cake for every meal. I will detox now and then (again, that darned wine..lol) if things are unbalanced. Not sure about going from lifestle and shocking your body into an extreme other, but if it works for you, I'm your cheerleader. We all need ccheerleaders because we do the impossible every day. You're awesome.

  10. Yes, I am crazy, I still have another month to go, I gave a long notice;) But I'm excited for the future. I did spend some time as a vegetarian pre-kids, not sure I could totally give up meat, but we aren't big meat eaters anyway. And you are right, once you detox it, you don't even crave it. All these comments make me want wine. And thanks for being my cheerleader, you're pretty awesome yourself.

  12. Really there is nothing going on in my world that is as life changing as having a new baby. Now TWO of you have commented that have brand spanking new babies and I feel like a jerk because I've had no time to read your blogs. Thanks Cam, I'll help you through the cleanse when you're ready! Now I'm going to read your blog, I'm a bad, bad bloggy friend!

  14. I thought that was a wheatgrass smoothie...

I've been toying with the idea of doing a detox myself, but I haven't had the guts to do it just yet.

So you really quit your job. You have done what I only dream of doing. That's totally riveting! You inspire me in so many ways...

Good luck to you! Everything seems to be falling into place. I won't even ask if you've found The One yet, as I know you have an aversion to the topic :)

We'll leave that last sentence alone....;) Does he complete me? No. Hahaha.
